Father Jean Bosco Ntihebuwayo, M. AFR
Missionary of Africa Catholic Priest
About Father Jean Bosco
Father Jean Bosco Ntihebuwayo is a devoted Catholic priest originally from Kibande, Burundi. He is a member of the Missionary of Africa, a religious congregation also known as the White Fathers, dedicated to serving communities through faith, education, and charity.
Background
Father Jean Bosco grew up in Burundi during the devastating Burundian Civil War (1993–2005), which deeply affected his family and community. Coming from a family of 12 siblings, his life was shaped by profound challenges. His father became blind, his mother fell gravely ill, and his family home was destroyed by the war.
Unable to continue school after his second year of secondary education, Father Jean Bosco experienced a life-changing act of kindness when a compassionate stranger paid for his education. This support not only gave him the opportunity to complete his studies but also inspired his lifelong commitment to ministry and service.
Education and Ministry Work
Father Jean Bosco has since dedicated his life to bringing hope and support to those in need, guided by the principle:
“We are all one.”
His ministry has taken him to several countries, allowing him to touch countless lives through his work. He also served as the dean of Pelican School, a school he helped grow from 56 students in 2017 to over 650 today. This exponential growth reflects his passion for education and the belief that “Heaven starts on Earth” through the investment in others’ lives.
Beliefs and Vision
Father Jean Bosco firmly believes in:
• Unity: “We are all one.”
• Service to others: “The investment of helping people brings joy.”
• Faith and truth: He boldly expresses his convictions and Jesus’s teachings.
• Hope for the future: Empowering children and families through education and support.
The Pelican School
The school’s name, Pelican School, holds symbolic meaning. In Christian tradition, the pelican is seen as a symbol of self-sacrifice and love, inspired by the mother pelican’s willingness to give her own blood to feed her young in times of need. This reflects Father Jean Bosco’s mission to nurture and uplift those he serves.
